Jackie Robinson fights to evade the tag of Philadelphia Phillies’ third baseman Putsy Caballero, a fitting metaphor for Robinson’s greater struggle for tolerance and acceptance. In 1947, a year prior, the Dodger great weathered a now infamous verbal assault; Phillies manager Ben Chapman directed endless racial slurs and taunts towards Robinson mid-game, the severity of which inspired considerable backlash. At a time of inequality and segregation, it was significant to have the public defend Major League Baseball’s first African-American. Chapman was fired after the 1948 season. Through his play on the field, Robinson became a cultural turning point.
Each reproduction is printed on 100% Hahnemuhle cotton rag paper using UltraChrome K3 pigmented inks and produced to the highest standard of archival quality available.
Image size is 8″x10″ with an additional 1.5″ margin all around. The total finished framed product is approximately 18″ x 19.5″.

The actual stock levels can fluctuate at any time. Please be aware that it's possible that your order will become unavailable even after you have placed the order.
Our policy lasts for thirty days. If 30 days have gone in the past since you purchased, unfortunately we can't offer you a refund or exchange.
For your item to be eligible for return it must be in its original packaging, unopened and in the same state as you received it. It must also be in its original packaging.
