The Story: Before they were the Leafs, and before they were the St. Pats, Toronto’s NHL team was called the “Arenas.” The year was 1917. The NHL had just formed, and was expected to only be in existence for a year until the NHA could be reactivated, but it never was. They played at Arena Gardens on Mutual Street and were owned by the Toronto Arena Company. The team, nicknamed the “Torontos,” was very succesful in their first year in the NHL. They beat out the Montreal Canadiens in the regular season and went on to face the Vancouver Millionaires in the finals. They won the first Stanley Cup as part of the NHL.
The Design: Our best-selling hat is back. The “archive” is a true classic, with its dad-hat fit and its adjustable fabric strapback it’s perfect for men, women, and kids. The felt “T” has a real vintage vibe, and the embroidered “ARENAS” gives the team logo real dimension.
