Playing for rivals the Yankees and Red Sox, brothers Joe and Dom DiMaggio are featured on the cover of the September 1947 issue of the SPORT Magazine. While everyone knows about Joe’s greatness, younger brother Dom was no slouch either. He was a dynamite leadoff hitter, stolen bases machine and defensive standout in being named a 7-time All-star during his 11-year career with the Red Sox.
SPORT Magazine, which ran from 1946 to 2000, celebrated what its editors accurately anticipated would be the coming explosion of interest in professional and amateur sport in post-war North America.
