The Montreal Canadiens are one of the Original Six, the 6 teams that formed the foundation of the NHL. The Montreal Forum was home to the Montreal Canadiens from 1926-1996 and was originally built for the Maroons. Before it was demolished, it was named a National Historic Site of Canada in 1997 and was noted for its influence in Canadian sports history as it was then the oldest large-scale arena. The Forum hosted 24 Stanley Cup Finals and, of those, 22 ended with home team Championships.
