With 69 yards to go, Miami pulled out one of their own famous trick plays – a hook and lateral. After 2 laterals, Kenyan Drake gets the ball, takes off downfield, and is met with an enticing 1v1 versus who else, but Gronk. Too easy… Drake scores and Miami wins with one of the most memorable plays in football history.

After their undefeated season the previous year, Miami was able to build on their success. Led by Super Bowl MVP Larry Csonka, Miami rolled over Minnesota. However, on 3rd and 5, Warfield’s diving catch at the 11 yard line helped put the game out of reach to give Miami their 2nd consecutive championship

Marino’s Fake Spike

With only 22 seconds left, Marino orchestrated one of the best comeback plays of all time. Racing to the line, Marino shouts and motions to spike the ball. Expecting a clock play, the entire defense is tricked and stands still as Marino drops back to find Mark Ingram for the pair’s 4th TD of the game and the victory.

Miami capped off the NFL’s first and only perfect season and began a two-year stretch where the team would capture 2 Super Bowl titles and post a combined 32-2 record. Jake Scott’s 4th quarter interception in the endzone helped solidfy the victory and establish the Miami team as an eternal great
