The legendary Ted Williams would be featured on the cover of the August 1947 edition of the SPORT Magazine. Williams is pictured passing on his vast hitting knowledge to Red Sox Manager Joe Cronin’s son. In 1947, Williams would hit .343 with 32 home runs and 114 RBIs in being named an All-Star and the runner-up for the MVP.
SPORT Magazine, which ran from 1946 to 2000, celebrated what its editors accurately anticipated would be the coming explosion of interest in professional and amateur sport in post-war North America.
