Game 5 of the 2004 Western Conference Finals came down to the absolute last second of the game. Los Angeles had taken a one-point lead with 11 seconds remaining, but Tim Duncan responded with a basket to give San Antonio the lead with .4 sec left. Los Angeles had one last chance, and Derek Fisher capitalized, catching the inbound and turning to put the game-winning basket up with no time left. Los Angeles went on to win the series in Game 6.

In a close game versus Portland in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, the most iconic basket came with 41 seconds remaining. Shaq drifted towards the hoop and signaled to Kobe to give him an alley-oop. The resulting dunk was immortalized with the announcer’s call of “”Kobe to Shaq!”” Los Angeles went on to beat Indiana in 6 games in the Finals.

With a minute remaining in Game 6 of the 1985 Finals, it was clear that Los Angeles would be taking home their 9th championship. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar put up a historic hookshot at the 1:01 mark to give Los Angeles an insurmountable 12 point lead over the Boston.

It was the start of a legend. In Game 5 of the NBA Finals Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had sprained his ankle and wouldn’t be able to play the next game. Thus Game 6 became 20 year-old rookie Magic Johnson’s first start at center. He won the starting tip and put up 42 points and 15 rebounds, leading Los Angeles to their 7th championship.
